The Maldonado departament with an area of 4.793 km² and 164.213 habitants, is located in the southeast of Uruguay. It's capital is Maldonado. In this departament is located the most important beaches Punta del Este and Piriapolis.Punta del Este is the most attractive beach of Maldonado and Uruguay, Punta del Este has the most popular street is called Gorlero, on this street are found the most expensive and popular shops of Punta del Este. This city is very attractive to go out, in the night you can go to the disco, watch a movie, go to the theater or just walk for the city with the family.. Punta del Este has the most famous Casino of America del Sur it's called Conrad, a lot of people go to this Casino to bet your money.
But the most attractive of the city is the sculpture of a hand placed on the sand, this sculpture was built in February 1982. The sculpture was made by Chilean artist Mario Irarrázabal.
Piriapolis is a really important beach because it has a big port use to trade and to decorate the city, the principal atraction is the hill called "Bull Hill" other attraction is the San Antonio Church, is famous for the number of years. Piriapolis is a very special beach because a lot of people choose this beach for her peace and because is really confortable, the people are very friendly with the tourists. But the most important of the beach are its shops, the shops are located in the rambla for this street it is very important the people walk and do others activities.
Maldonado has a stadium of football called "Campus of Maldonado" is a important stadium and some football matches are played there. Maldonado is really fantastic.
